Four offices. Ten years. One team.
Their FM director saw our work in a neighbouring building. When the contract went to tender, we put ourselves forward — and won. From day one, our directors were on site: cleaning alongside the team, having the hard conversations, turning a disconnected workforce into one that took pride in the building. That was 2016.

The building
Twelve zones, each with different materials and different standards of care. The lift lobbies have original period concrete and exposed steel framing — high footfall, specialist equipment, daily attention. Then there are the seasonal shifts: shower towel rotations in summer, pathway salting in winter, moss treatments in spring. The specification is calibrated zone by zone. Nothing is applied uniformly.

The people

Debbie, the site lead, has been with Distinct for over twelve years. She operates more like a building manager than a cleaning supervisor — she knows what the client expects, she flags issues before they escalate, and she runs a 21-person team across three daily shifts. When the client walks the building with our area manager each month, the average audit score is 98%.

The proof
Service meetings were reduced from monthly to bimonthly — because the client stopped needing them. The scope grew from office cleaning to full soft-services FM across the entire building. And when Frances House changed its FM contract, Edelman went to their landlord and asked them to appoint Distinct directly.
