Today is Thank Your Cleaner Day.
Most people will never know who looked after the spaces they walk through. The boutique floor before opening, the boardroom before the first meeting, the fitting room between appointments: someone was there first, and they took care over it.
Around 500 of us in the UK and over 300 in the UAE do that work every day. Today we want to thank every one of them.
What our managers told us on Thank Your Cleaner Day
This year we asked our managers in London who they would like to thank, and why. We couldn't get round everyone, and the people below are only some of those they called out. But the same things kept coming up: hard work, pride in the job, kindness and loyalty.
"Such a dynamic and hardworking team."
On John and Rosita
"You take so much pride in what you do, and it truly shows in the way you work. The fact that the client sees you as part of their own team says everything about the value you bring every day."
On Gladys and Eda
"You always go the extra mile to keep the store looking spotless and to such a high standard. Not a single corner escapes your attention."
On Joanna, Isabel, Yola and Rolando
"A very serious and punctual worker with a strong sense of responsibility."
On Maria
"An excellent team leader who coordinates the team effectively, maintains a very close relationship with the client, and keeps the cleaning operations under control."
On Alexandra
"Always happy to help."
On Alarkam
"She always pays attention to the details."
On Solange
"Thank you for believing in me and trusting my work. Thank you for your trust, your support, and for being part of my team."
From her supervisor, to Camila
"I really appreciate your consistency, the respect you show to others, and the effort you put into your work every day."
On Christian
The work nobody sees
Much of what our teams do happens before the doors open or after they close, in luxury retail and in offices and head offices where standards cannot slip. Clients rarely see the people, but they see the care: a floor that stays right through the day, glass without a mark under the display lights, a space that looks ready the moment it opens.
That care comes from people, not procedures. The notes above are about individuals, but they describe something we see on every site.
Looking after the people who look after the spaces
Every member of our staff has private health, dental and accident cover, and we are still working to do better. Days like today are a reminder of why it matters.
To everyone on our teams, in London, across the UK and in the UAE: thank you.
If someone looks after the space you work in, today is a good day to tell them.
